William R. "Billy" Oakes

AIKEN, SC – WILLIAM R. “BILLY” OAKES, 59, beloved husband of Marie Shutzer Oakes, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at his residence.

A native of Freehold, NJ, Billy was a son of the late Robert W. and Jean Rue Oakes.  He lived in Aiken since 1999 and worked with Youngs Tree Service.  Billy loved fishing and the outdoors.  He was a big fan of country music and enjoyed attending concerts.  He was also a big sports fan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Marie, are two daughters, Shannon Victoria Oakes, Neptune, NJ, Kristina Marie Oakes, Aiken; sister, Lorrie J. Bolton (Neil), Freehold, NJ; brother, Robert W. Oakes, Jr. (Lori), Rumson, NJ; mother-in-law, Berta Shutzer, Aiken and a number of nieces and nephews.

According to Billy’s wishes, no service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pruitt Hospice.
