William "Bill" Dearman

AIKEN, SC - Mr. William "Bill" Dearman, 69, passed away peacefully in his home Friday, March 25, 2022. Bill was the son of the late Joseph Reid and Jetta Mae Yates Dearman. He was born and raised in Batesburg-Leesville, SC, but had made Aiken his home since 1975. He worked at the Savannah River Site for 22 years. After retiring, he went back to work as an independent contractor, spending 2 years in Hanford, WA and 4 years in Oak Ridge, TN, before retiring for good in 2015. A licensed auctioneer for over 45 years, he used his talents and out-going-personality for numerous charitable causes and fundraisers in Aiken throughout the years. He was also an active member of the Shriners Club for over 40 years and had his personal aviation license for over 30 years. Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Denise Sellers Dearman, two sons, Billy (Laurie Dearman) of Bluffton, SC and Reid Dearman, Aiken; brother Mike Dearman, Lexington, SC and sister Dinah Long, Lexington, SC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30,2022 at 10:00 AM at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Bill Howard III officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.
