Toni Crocker Lewis

November 19, 1942 — October 16, 2025

Aiken, SC

TONI LYNN CROCKER LEWIS, 83, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025 in her home following a brief illness.

Born in Gastonia, NC, November 19, 1942, Toni was the daughter of the late Charles Stanley and Lois Dills Crocker. Toni grew up in Macon, GA which she considered home before graduating from nursing school. In 1970 she moved with her then husband, the former Dr. Wiley B. Lewis, to Waycross, GA where she dedicated her life to helping others as a registered nurse until her retirement. For the last 20 years Toni called Aiken, SC home where she embraced helping raise her two grandchildren.

Toni was a proud member of the Bulldawg Nation and is credited by many for the win over Ole Miss the Saturday after she died. She was also a fan of Lewis Grizzard who told the story of her Southern generation with heart and humor. A true animal lover, she opened her home to many stray animals over the years, fostering and adopting them with love and compassion. Toni was a voracious reader, world traveler, would talk to anyone anywhere, had a clever and witty sense of humor, didn't mince words, and loved her Covid cocktails, art Sundays and group movie nights with her friends. She was remarkably independent but loved being pampered and the center of attention as she well deserved. She was a rock to her friends and family and could always be counted on if needed.

Surviving is her daughter, Lynn Alison Lewis and son-in-law, David M. Hawkins; two grandchildren, Ethan Lewis and Madelyn Grace Weis; her former son-in-law, Dr. Kevin J. Weis, her dog Sadie and cat Pogo, her remaining two Waycross amigos Cinda and Carla, her high school Toni from Macon, and her forever neighbor friends of Aiken Estates.

In accordance with her wishes, memorialization will be by cremation with a private celebration of life to be held in lieu of a funeral service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare (letlovelive.org) .
