Tommy Lee
Mitchell
January 24, 1945 – March 23, 2026
TOMMY LEE MITCHELL, 81, passed away Monday afternoon, March 23, 2026 at home with his loving daughter and grandson by his side.
Born in San Angelo, Texas, Tommy was the son of the late Tom Watson Mitchell and Marjorie Ann Weisenberger Mitchell. He grew up on a farm in Kewanna, Indiana, and graduated from Kewanna High School. Tommy proudly served his country, first enlisting in the Air Force for four years as a pilot trainee, and then serving an additional five years as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps, from which he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
In 1984, Tommy made Aiken County his home and began a 22 year career as a construction supervisor before retiring in 2006. Staying true to his farming roots, he enjoyed maintaining a small farm where he cared for cows, chickens, sheep, and a donkey.
Tommy’s life was guided by a strong Christian faith, and he held a deep love for his family, especially his cherished grandson, Markee.
He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Jennifer Mitchell Lott (Mark) of Warrenville; his grandson, Markee
Lott of Warrenville; his brother, Bill Mitchell (Vanessa) of Bluffton, South Carolina; two nieces, Shannon Mitchell and Stephanie Crowder (Matt); and two great-nephews, Dylan Mitchell and Cameron Crowder. Predeceased by his son-in-law H Mark Lott.
Graveside service will be Monday afternoon, April 6, 2026 at 2 o'clock in Beaufort National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare (letlovelive.org).
