Sophie Catherine Shamblen

AIKEN, SC - Sophie Catherine Shamblen, 45, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her residence.

A native of London, England, Sophie was a daughter of the late Peter and Madeline Carstars Hick.  She moved to Aiken 20 years ago and worked in the horse industry in Aiken for a number of years.  She was very dedicated to animals.

Sophie was a ray of light who was loved by all who knew her.  Her bubbly personality and infectious laughter will be profoundly missed.  She lived an extraordinary life surrounded by people who adored her.

Sophie’s love for family and friends was only exceeded by her love for her pups Diesel, Oscar, Chloe and Henry.  A rabid fan of “proper” football and England’s national team.  She would not hesitate to correct anyone who dared call football soccer.

Sophie loved to travel with family and friends and recently had ventured to Mexico, Costa Rica and Italy.

Surviving are her husband, David P Shamblen, Duluth, GA; three brothers, William Hick, New Jersey, David Hick and Freddie Hick, both of London, England; a sister, Louise Manthorpe, London, England.

A Celebration of Sophie’s Life will be held Sunday afternoon, August 15th at Rose Hill Estate. from 3 until 6 o'clock.
