Selena Thomas Harrison, beloved wife of Joseph Lee Harrison, died on August 3, 2026 at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
Selena was born to Marvin McRoy and Margaret Morgan Thomas on October 29, 1952 in Georgetown, South Carolina. In addition to her husband Joe, she is survived by her siblings Margaret “Connie” T. Bull (Clayton) of Georgetown; Marvin M. Thomas III (Robin) of Weaverville, NC and Joy T. (Brian) Dressler of Columbia, SC as well as her step-children Joseph Craig Harrison (Carrie) of Evans, GA and Jamie Lynn Harrison of St. Marys, GA and step-grandchildren Kenneth Reid Harrison, Louisa Claire Harrison, and William Cole Harrison of Evans, GA. Selena is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Martha T. Smith (Bobby). She also leaves behind her two beloved dogs Jake and Pete.
In 1989 Selena established Island Shoes by Selena at Pawleys Island after an already successful start in retail marketing. She remained on her beloved Grand Strand until Joe swept her up and moved her to Aiken as his wife. Many new and dear friendships were made in her new hometown. The call of the coast and many long-term friendships beckoned them and a second home in Georgetown was purchased and decked out as only Selena could do. She was able to truly reconnect with her Mermaids group as well as so many others she had come to cherish over the years.
A kind and generous soul, her unflagging spirit and love of life enriched the lives of her family and many friends who all have fond memories of times enjoyed together. What a ride. What a gal.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to St. Frances Animal Center, 125 North Ridge Street, Georgetown, SC 29440 or to the charity of one’s choice.
