Sandra W. Wagoner, 73, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025, in Aiken Regional Medical Centers following a short illness from glioblastoma.

Sandy was born in Winston Salem, NC and moved to Aiken in the mid 1960’s. John “Pop” and Jaque “Chief” McClain who were like parents and took her into their family, giving Sandy a sister. She graduated from Aiken High School in 1969.

Sandy was a trailblazer in her career, starting as a dispatcher for the City of Aiken. She made history as the city’s first female public safety officer and later served as the first female deputy at the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. After leaving law enforcement, she dedicated 26 years to Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site, retiring in 2011.

Sandy is survived by her sister, Debbie Frye, Mocksville, NC, several nieces and nephews; her close friend and companion for over 25 years, Becky Christian. Sandy is also survived by many loving friends.

In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
