Sabri Ann Dodenhoff Buchanan

AIKEN, SC - Sabri Ann Dodenhoff Buchanan, 80, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at University Hospital in Augusta. 

     A lifelong resident of Aiken, Mrs. Buchanan was the daughter of the late John Ramsey Dodenhoff and Sabri Hankinson Smith.  She was a 1958 graduate of Aiken High School.  Prior to her retirement, she was the office manager for Aiken Dental Associates for over 30 years. 

     Mrs. Buchanan was a longtime member of Aiken’s First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.  Her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren, her work family, and her host of precious friends from all walks of her life.  She loved going to Daytona Beach, which she did every summer from the time she was tiny until her health declined in the past few years and she was unable to travel. 

     She is survived by daughters Gail Buchanan Clamp (Calvin), Aiken; Cindy Buchanan Orris (Adam), Aiken; and three grandchildren who were her greatest joys and the lights of her life, Cameron McCloud Clamp, Katelyn Elizabeth Hankinson Clamp, and Brandon Donald Orris, all of Aiken.  She is also survived by her first and very best friend, Gail Bonnett Thomas of Aiken. 

     Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, William Irvin Smith, and her grandparents, Mayhew Hankinson Sr. and Blanche H. Hankinson. 

     The family extends heartfelt thanks to her kind and loving caregivers, Leigh Ann Rowland and Barbara King, her nurses and therapists with Encompass Home Health, Faiz Rehman, M.D. and Nurse Practitioner Erin Cooper, APRN-BC.  Each of these people took such good care of her and have become family. 

     Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held. 

     2 Timothy 4:7 is a most accurate description of our precious mother and grandmother:  “I have fought the good fight.  I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” 

     Memorial donations may be made to Aiken’s First Baptist Church, Children’s Place, Inc. or the American Heart Association.
