Roswell Pattison, Jr.

August 15, 1939 — October 8, 2022

A good man obtaineth favor of the Lord.  (Proverbs 12:2)  Roswell Carl “Ross” Pattison, Jr., 83, beloved husband of Bonnie Slayton Pattison, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022, in his home following an illness.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Ross was a son of the late Roswell C Pattison Sr., and Ida Nowlon Pattison.  He grew up in Memphis, TN and graduated from The University of Tennessee.  He had lived in Aiken since 1972 and retired from DuPont and Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site.  He was a member of Aiken’s First Baptist Church. 

Survivors in addition to his wife of 35 years, Bonnie, include two children, Lisa P. Carter (Curtis), Athens, GA, Bruce O. Pattison, Atlanta, GA; four stepchildren, Kenneth M. Johnson, Jr., Redwood City, CA, Brian L. Johnson (Jamie), Johnston, SC, Amy J. Hibbitts (Steve), Evans, GA, Sally J. Tice (Victor), Aiken; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Scott Nelson Pattison, Sean Mark Pattison and his brother, Rodger Nelson Pattison.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday afternoon, October 12th at 3 o’clock in Aiken’s First Baptist Church with The Rev. John Carroll officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Aiken’s First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802.
