Leesville, SC

Roland Chester Seigler, 88, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Roland was born in Aiken County, son of the late Chester Marion “CM” Seigler and Bessie Toole Seigler. Roland attended North Greenville University and Furman University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. He loved singing and playing his trumpet and harmonica.

While attending Aiken High School, Roland was drum major for the marching band. He was also a pole vaulter on the track team, becoming a state champion by setting a high school state pole vaulting record which he held for many years.

Roland was in music ministry all of his life. He served churches in South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee. He had the distinct blessing of beginning and ending his music ministry at his home church of Shiloh Baptist, Aiken. He began leading music at Shiloh when he was 13 years of age and retired from there at 76 years of age.

Roland supported his family through his college and later years by selling cookware. Many of you reading this probably have a set. He also owned a hardwood floor business, Superior Floor Company, which he ran from 1990 to 2013. All of his work endeavors earned him a reputation of being an honest, hard-working, and kind man.

Roland loved the Lord, his family, and people. He never met a stranger and loved to talk and laugh with everyone. He enjoyed spending time with family, camping, fishing, boating, and cutting grass (his own and all of his neighbors). Roland is most often described by people as a sweet man with a sweet smile.

Roland is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Melba Mundy Seigler; a son, Geoffrey (Tammy) Seigler, Gilbert, SC; daughters, Julia (Jack) Folk, Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Gwen Eargle, Leesville, SC; eight grandchildren, Josalynn (Michael) Petko, Weddington, NC, Dustin Seigler, Florence, SC, Jared Seigler, Gilbert, SC, Nora (Tagen) Wolf, Lexington, SC, Erin (Mike) Farmer, Winston-Salem, NC, Lauren (Aaron) McCall, Garner, NC, Jessica (Ousman) Manneh, Raleigh, NC, Daniel (Carmen) Folk, Washington, NC; 11 great grandchildren, Elijah Petko, Brennan Petko, Lucian Seigler, Nicholas Farmer, Caroline Farmer, Mason McCall, Reagan McCall, Noah Manneh, Abis Manneh, Jaxon Folk, and Landon Folk.
