Robert Burl Wisdom

March 25, 1939 — August 3, 2022

AIKEN, SC - Robert Burl Wisdom Robert Burl Wisdom, 83, born March 25, 1939, in Hobart, Oklahoma, died August 3, 2022, at his home in Aiken, SC. His only child, Jolene Norris and his son-in-law Ron Norris, Sr. we’re each holding one of his hands as he moved quietly from this world into the arms of his Lord and Savior.

Robert was a member of The Masonic Lodge of Shelby, Montana, he has been a member in good standing for 54 years. Robert was also a valued member since 1972 of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry SD, USA, 32nd Degree Valley of Langdon Orient of North Dakota. He was also a member of The Washington Street Baptist Church in Hobart, Ok.

Robert is survived by his second wife Janet Anderson Wisdom, his daughter Jolene Norris, Son-in-law Ron Norris Sr., grandson, Ron Norris, Jr. and his wife Stacy, great-granddaughters Jocelyn Norris and Isabella Norris, his sister Addie Mae Wisdom, his nieces Raquel Ford, Dr. Athena Jane Frieze and her husband Dr. Paul Frieze, Roberts’ nephews, Jack Neal Dawson, Thomas Gene Dawson, Kenneth Dawson and Kirk Dawson.

Robert remarried and he and his wife, Janet Anderson Wisdom, settled in Aiken a few years ago and they both have enjoyed living here immensely. Robert played golf in every major (in his eyes) club in the world, from Aiken to Maui to Scotland. He left a few mangled clubs everywhere he went. He was also an avid runner and ran 5 miles a day until he slowed to a quick walk a few years ago. Robert loved his family, friends and the many communities he called home over his lifetime, but most of all he loved his granddaughters, Jocelyn and Isabella Norris. In their eyes, he saw his ancestors and all the endless possibilities these girls will have in their lifetimes. He will be missed. “Bless us, O God. Bless our beloved fraternity throughout the world. May we live and emulate the example of our beloved brother. Finally, May we in this world attain a knowledge of Thy Truth, and in the world to come, life everlasting.”

Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Hobart Rose Cemetery in Hobart, OK. The family will receive friends following the service.
