Robert Scott Westmoreland

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Robert S. Westmoreland entered into rest at the age of 87. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 2, 1938, the son of the late Victor S. and Juanita Westmoreland. He attended Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. He was a former member of Dilworth United Methodist Church.

Bob graduated from Pfeiffer University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He started his career at the Florida Steel Mill in the Charlotte office and then moved to personnel. He transferred to Columbia, SC in the sales office. Continuing with the company, he then moved to the Aiken Rebar Plant as the office manager. He then worked for AB Beverage in Aiken, retiring after 19 years. He was active in the Jaycee’s, the Aiken Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Aiken, serving as an officer in each of these organizations. He was involved with the start of the Aiken Jaycee County Fair (Western Carolina State Fair). He also worked with the Aiken Steeplechase Association.

He was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Victor S. Westmoreland, Jr., James R. Westmoreland, sister Margaret Kearns and sister-in-law Helen J. Westmoreland.

Bob is survived by his brother-in-law, Donald Kearns, nieces Karen Madruga and Lynn Boynton, nephews, Donnie and David Kearns, Chris and Andy Westmoreland, numerous great nieces and nephews and close friends, the James Gregory and Chris Varnadore families.

The funeral service will be held Friday morning, June 27th at 10 o’clock at St. John’s Methodist Church in Aiken with The Rev. Grayson “Butch” Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at 3 o’clock in Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC with his cousin, The Rev. Chris Westmoreland officiating.

Bob’s family will receive friends at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home in Aiken.
