Robert Lee “Bob” Hopkins, 76, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on June 5, 1949, in Hamilton, Ohio, he lived a life defined by quiet strength, adventure, and devotion to his family.

Bob served in the United States Air Force and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He returned to civilian life and earned a degree in computer science. He put his computer training to practical use in his career, but his truest passions were his family and the outdoors.

A lifelong sports fan and athlete, Bob loved his Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed weightlifting, running, and cycling. He was passionate about extreme hiking on challenging terrains such as Mt. Whitney and Death Valley with grit and enthusiasm. His love of adventure extended beyond physical feats; he was a gifted photographer who traveled to remote places to capture the forgotten places.

Above all, Robert was devoted to his family. He is remembered for putting their needs first, offering support and steady presence through good and difficult times. Those who knew him recall a man of few words but great presence—adventurous yet grounded, tough yet generous—who spoke honestly and lived each day with purpose and optimism.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lydia Marie Pezant; daughter Shannon Hopkins Draleaus (Raymond); granddaughter Parker; son Robert Lee Hopkins III (Leah Goodwin); grandson Dante; nephew Mike Hammons (Julie); sisters Florine Hollister and Dottie Miller; and a host of nieces and nephews who cherished him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Matilda Hensler and Robert George Hopkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) .

Per Bob's wishes there will not be a formal service, just a small gathering of immediate family."
