Robert Benedict “Bobby” DeMasi, affectionately known as Bobby, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Aiken, South Carolina. Born on April 5, 1944, in Orange, New Jersey, Bobby’s life spanned over eight decades, marked by dedication to his family, community, and career.
Bobby’s early years were shaped by a solid educational foundation. He attended Bordentown Military Institute in Trenton, New Jersey, before pursuing higher education at Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Antrim, New Hampshire. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, complemented by minors in Business and Drama.
His professional journey was extensive and varied. Bobby served as a Human Resources Manager with Ducane Heating, initially in Union City, New Jersey, and later continued with the company’s relocation to Blackville, South Carolina. Demonstrating his leadership and expertise, he also held the position of Director of Safety and Human Resources with Save-A-Stop in Orange Park, Florida. In the mid-1970s, Bobby settled in Aiken, South Carolina, where he alongside his parents, operated DeMasi’s Italian American Restaurant on Whiskey Road, creating a beloved dining and catering establishment that reflected his heritage and passion for community.
Bobby’s commitment to service extended beyond his business ventures. He was formerly on staff at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Aiken, where he also volunteered working the car line until 2018, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children. Additionally, he worked as a paint contractor in the Aiken area for 30 years.
Family was central to Bobby’s life. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Terri Fulmer DeMasi, who stood by his side through decades of shared experiences and mutual support. Their daughter, Karly DeMasi of Aiken, carries forward the family’s legacy, alongside his granddaughter, Josephine “Josie” Rae DeMasi, also of Aiken. Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Richard Anthony DeMasi Sr. and Josephine Pontilena DeMasi, as well as his brother, Richard Anthony "Dickie" DeMasi Jr.
No service is planned at this time.
