Robert Earl Coomes

Robert Earl Coomes, “Bob”, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on August 26th, 1955 to the late Billy and Delores Coomes, Bob grew up surrounded by the love of his eleven brothers and sisters. He was known for his contagious laughter, joyful spirit and kind heart. Bob experienced great hardship with his health which he met with a positive outlook and amazing sense of humor. He was a simple man and loved the simple things in life.

Bob is most remembered by his immense love for his family and those he considered family. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Renee Coomes and his brother, Mike Coomes.

He is survived by his children, Jamie (Holly), Justin (Lauren), John (Randi), Ashley Porchetta (Joey), and Austin (Anna); his grandchildren, Jamie Jr., Ryder, Kylee, Harleigh, Paisleigh, Wyatt, Waylon, Nevaeh, Saylor, John, Bowen, Goldie and Sawyer; his brothers Ken Coomes (Janet), Bill Coomes(Monica), Birchett Coomes (Kim) and his sisters, Donna Steinriede, Evelyn Weaver (Mike), Lori Williams (John), Caroline Sanders and Michelle Cox (Michael).

The family will receive friends Monday morning, March 27th beginning at 10 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 11 o'clock.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the youth programs at either New Spring Church, 1108 Cedar Ln., Aiken, SC 29801 or Cedar Creek Church, 3001 Banks Mill Rd., SE, Aiken, SC 29803.
