Robert "Bob" Wilkes Sawyer, Jr.

Robert "Bob" Wilkes Sawyer, Jr., 78, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Aiken, SC, Sunday, August 2, 2026. Born on March 5, 1948, in Columbia, SC, Bob's life was one defined by dedication to family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

A lifelong resident of Aiken, Bob owned and operated Sawyer Tile Company, a business his family built through years of effort and integrity.

Bob cherished time spent in nature and was especially passionate about deer hunting. An avid hunter, he was a proud member of several hunt clubs in the Islandton, SC area. The camaraderie, stories shared around the campfire, and quiet mornings in the woods were among his greatest joys, providing him with both relaxation and connection.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Paula Crenshaw Sawyer, who stood by his side in all seasons of life. His legacy continues through his children: Lance Sawyer and Brandi Sawyer; his stepson Tommy Richardson (Alysha), and stepdaughters Angela Goebel (Josh) and Robyn Walter (Nick). Bob was a proud grandfather to Darren Sawyer (Amber), Dalton Sawyer, Taylor Sawyer, and Savannah Sawyer. He is also fondly remembered by his niece, Kelley McNeil (James), who held a special place in his heart.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. and Grace Abrams Sawyer and a son, Payton Sawyer.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
