AIKEN – Mr. Robert “Bob” Leslie McClure, 83, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018. Bob was born in Birmingham, England, a son of the late William and Phyllis Maud Hulburt McClure. He had been a resident of Aiken for 12 years, and was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, and served as Warden and Assistant Warden at St. Thaddeus. During his military service, Bob served with the prestigious Scottish Black Watch infantry regiment during the Kenya campaign. He later served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in the Egypt campaign. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Kathleen McClure; four daughters, Iona (Jeff) Rossely, Dubai, UAE, Alison (Troy Anthony) McClure, Melbourne, Australia, Frances (John) Smith-Wright, Perth, Australia, Geraldine (Joe) Sadka, London, England; a stepson, Paul Akiyama, Boulder, CO; two grandchildren, Bruce Smith-Wright, Jake Smith-Wright; a sister, Elizabeth (David) Bean, Paris, France. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with the Reverend Grant Wiseman officiating. A reception will be held following the service in the Stevenson-McClelland building.
