Richard Joseph "Dick" Medvid, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dick was the beloved husband of Cynthia Nowicki Medvid, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his son, Eric (Melissa) Medvid of Brentwood, Tennessee; his daughter, Lori (Chris) Wakefield of Cookeville, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Taylor Trahan of Cookeville, Tennessee, Alexandra Medvid of Franklin, Tennessee, Avery Wakefield of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Michael Medvid of Franklin, Tennessee and Ella Beckham of Miami, Florida . He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Pauline Medvid; his brothers, Paul Medvid, Steven (Skip) Medvid, and Dennis Medvid; and his sister, Elaine Medvid Kandravy.

Dick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War in 1967–1968. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aiken, the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight, The American Legion, and the VFW.

A devoted golfer, Dick was a very proud member of The Reserve Golf Club at Woodside Plantation. He also enjoyed a long and rewarding career with Flowserve in Cookeville, Tennessee, where he worked for 32 years before retiring.

Dick will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

A gathering and celebration of Dick's life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association.
