Raymond Lee Stone

AIKEN, SC – Mr. Raymond Lee Stone, beloved husband of Linda Kitchings Stone, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

The funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, November 1, 2021 at Shellhouse Funeral Home on Hayne Ave., with The Rev. Richard McWhite officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Shaw, Harold Boyd, Mark Rowe, John Stone and Brantley Boyd. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 PM at the funeral home.

Born in Gastonia, NC, Mr. Stone was the son of the late Hurbert Raymond and Margaret Holland Stone. He spent his career as a long haul truck driver and loved spending time on the open road. Mr. Stone was a member of Redd’s Branch Baptist Church and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He loved to hunt and fish and always enjoyed watching old “westerns”. Mr. Stone enjoyed cooking on the grill for family and friends. Being able to work with his hands, Mr. Stone was known to build things for his wife Linda. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Mr. Stone is survived by his three daughters, Rosiland Stone, Aiken, Dorothy Stone, Bamberg, SC, Cheryl James-White, Waynesboro, GA; two sons, George “Rocky” Stone, Aiken, Raymond Stone II, Aiken; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Stone Price, North Augusta, SC and two brothers, Robert (Bergie) Stone, Montmorenci, SC and Barney Stone of Aiken. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
