Peggy Jo Gurske age 72, of Aiken, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her husband Richard and the gentle whinnies of the horses and pets she adored. She was born on November 23, 1953 in Marshall Texas.
Peggy loved riding and taking care of their array of horses, competed in horse shows and rode in drag hunts. When her horses foundered, she went to school to become a farrier, all the while battling breast cancer. With her love of animals, her homes and farms have been pet-friendly forever.
Her greatest talent was taking snippets of pictures such as windows, doors, exteriors and designing unique houses and barns that she built and lived in. Her legacy lives on in these homes.
Peggy also leaves behind a legacy of love to many and her spouse of 45 years, Richard Gurske, who shared her adventures of exotic equestrian vacations, and her love of the many dogs, cats and birds She is preceded in death by her mother NormaDean (White) Grubb and is survived by her brother, Michael C. Grubb, San Antonio, TX.
In honor of Peggy’s extraordinary life, instead of flowers, please consider donations to an equine rescue organization.
