Pauline Rankin Woodward, a cherished member of the Aiken County community, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Aiken, South Carolina. Born on August 30, 1933, in Wagener, SC, Pauline lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and an unfaltering spirit of generosity.
She was born into a large family as the last surviving child of Paul and Sallie Whittle Rankin, out of ten siblings. Pauline was blessed in marriage to Kelly Hiram Woodward, who preceded her in death. Together, they forged a life filled with love and commitment.
For over three decades, Pauline served as a secretary at Aiken Lumber Company, where she committed 32 years of her life to supporting the business with diligence and care. Known for her upbeat personality, she lived life to the fullest, embraced laughter, and possessed a deep love for the Lord and her family. Her compassion extended beyond her immediate circle, as she actively sought to help people in need throughout her lifetime.
Pauline was a longtime member of Couchton Baptist Church, before joining Solid Rock Baptist Church, and more recently at Cedar Creek Church.
Pauline is survived by her devoted daughter, Joanne Woodward Jones and her husband Joel of Aiken; three beloved grandchildren, Lauren Morris and her husband Jake of Aiken, Matthew Jones and his wife Dani of Columbia, and Brandon Jones and his wife Laura of Aiken; as well as seven great-grandchildren—Luke Asher Morris, Carter Andrew Morris, Lincoln Gray Morris, Brayden Matthew Jones, Kingsley Jo Jones, Charlotte Jean Jones, and Lillian Kate Jones.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14th beginning at 1 o’clock at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. George Koon officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home following the service. Private interment will be in Scott Family Cemetery.
