Patricia Seigler Copley

February 21, 1932 — February 17, 2023

Aiken – Mrs. Patricia (Patty) Ann Seigler Copley, 90, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023.

Patricia was a life-long resident of Aiken, SC and was the daughter of the late James Byrnes and Eula Blount Seigler. She was the beloved wife of Gerald L. Copley for 58 years.

Mrs. Copley graduated from Aiken High School and received certification as a secretary from Anderson College. She worked as a secretary for Dupont until the time that her first child was born. Patty assisted her husband, Gerald, in several of his other businesses for many years. Patty was very active in her church, First Baptist Church of Aiken, where she was in charge of the GA and Acteens program and taught in the pre-school Sunday school. She was an active member and former officer in the Suburban Garden Club. Patty was a member and officer in the SC Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary and she traveled with Gerald to national meetings throughout the country. She volunteered for cub scout and girl scout troops. She always enjoyed creating crafty projects for special occasions.

Remembering Patricia is remembering her love for her church and family. Both were very important to her. As a lifelong member of the church, her unconditional love for Christ has shown through her selfless giving to her family, friends, and even strangers.

Patty is survived by her daughters, Nancy (James) Newton, Aiken, Brenda (Michael) Wright, Bella Vista, AR, and Peggy (Rusty Bayles) Copley, Beaufort, SC; grandchildren, John Copley, Lacy Copley, Angela Wright, Cassandra Wright, A.J. Newton, Chelsea Wright, Josh Newton, and Tricia Copley Moore; ten great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; a brother, James (Ellen) Seigler, Middletown, RI; a daughter in law, Lyall Copley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
