Christy Pritchard, 71, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away on August 4, 2025.
Born on May 15, 1954, in Norfolk, England, Christy was the daughter of the late Marjorie Juanita Brown and Horace Wade “Mace” Brown. She made Aiken her home after moving there in 1989 with her husband of 43 years, the late Patrick Pritchard. Together, they built a life rooted in family, community, and service.
Christy devoted much of her life to advocating for children. She began as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem, later serving as the Program Coordinator for the Guardian Program in Aiken and Bamberg counties. Through this work, she touched the lives of countless children, continuing to follow up and encourage them long after her official duties ended. After retiring, she carried her giving spirit into the community, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and discovering a passion for the sport and fellowship of pickleball.
Christy will be remembered for her unwavering positivity, optimism, and her gift for making everyone she met feel like family. She brought warmth, joy, and encouragement wherever she went and was deeply loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Nicholas Pritchard (Jourdan) and Lindsay Blake (Zachary); her grandchildren, Jude Mallach and River Pritchard, who were her heart and soul; and her sisters, Sherryl Laing and Lisa Brown. In addition to her husband Patrick, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Cindy Brown and Debbie Sheffield.
A visitation will be held at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of Christy’s life will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to honor Christy by supporting organizations close to her heart, such as Guardian ad Litem, Habitat for Humanity, or a children’s advocacy program of their choice. Her smile was a light that made everyone feel at home, and her love will continue to live on in the many lives she touched. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.
