Michael Smith

AIKEN, SC – MICHAEL SHANE SMITH, 42, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Augusta University Medical Center.

     A native of Macon, GA, Michael was a son of Dannie C. and Donna Benefield Smith.

     In April of 2019 Michael was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He set out with intention to plan and ensure that God’s will was followed for his life. At 2:33 P.M on August 28th, God’s plan was fulfilled and Michael was called up to receive his eternal gift that could only be granted by God, through His son, Jesus Christ.

     Survivors in addition to his parents, Dannie and Donna Smith of Macon, GA, include three children, Mason Smith, Trenton Smith, and Madison Smith of Aiken; Sarah Waters of Aiken (his beloved); two brothers, Christopher C. Smith (Tammy), Macon, GA, Stephen Smith (Chelsea), Gray, GA; maternal grandfather, Wayne Roquemore, Ivey, GA.

     Michael was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Dannie and Ellen O’Neal Smith and maternal grandmother, Nellie Covington Roquemore.  

     The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, September 1st from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

The family will also receive family and friends Thursday morning, September 2nd beginning at 11 o’clock at Turning Point at Mabel White Baptist Church.  The funeral service will follow at Noon with Reverend Lee Sheppard and Reverend Clay Bowden officiating.  Interment will be in Macon Memorial Park.
