AIKEN, SC – MARY FRANCES JONES, 78, widow of William Herschel “Sonny” Jones, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at The Place at Pepper Hill.
A native of Chicago, IL, Mary was a daughter of the late Michael Maxwell Mearns and Norma Elizabeth Graff Mearns. She grew up in Chicago before moving to southern Illinois. She was the business office director at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. She later worked for Ross Perot in medical billing at ARS (Advance Receivable Strategy). Mary moved to Aiken in 2008.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Mayo; two grandchildren, Mallory Ehlers, Connor Ehlers (Lauren), all of Aiken; a sister, Joyce A. Elliott, Orland Park, IL and a brother, Roy Mearns, Leesburg, FL. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Rusty Mearns.
No service is planned at this time.
