Mrs. Mary Jakes Eibling, 79, died peacefully on July 2, 2025, in Augusta, GA.
Mary was born on January 4, 1946, in Battle Creek, MI. She attended Middle Tennessee State University for undergraduate studies and earned her master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. She married Russell Eibling in Atlanta, GA, in 1976. In 1980, the couple moved to Aiken, SC, where they resided for over 45 years.
Mary was a talented seamstress who poured love and creativity into every stitch. She found great joy in tending to her garden, where her green thumb brought beauty and peace to her home. Known for her generous spirit, Mary was always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word with those around her. She and Russell shared a love for travel, especially their many cherished visits to Disney World and the national parks, where they created lasting memories with family.
Mary is survived by her husband, Russell; their son, Scott Eibling (Courtney); and her beloved grandchildren, Autumn and Reagan Eibling. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Monroe Jakes and Frances Short Jakes; her siblings, David Jakes and Kay Jenkins; and her daughter, Michelle Eibling.
Mary will be laid to rest in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lebanon, TN alongside her family who preceded her in death.
