Martha Koehler

Martha Dudley Koehler, 87 widow of John Burt Koehler, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026, at her home in Aiken, South Carolina.

A native of Huntington, West Virginia, Martha was the daughter of the late Mitchell and Adele Dudley. Martha graduated from Marshall University and later earned her master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. She taught fourth grade at Bird Elementary in Plymouth, Michigan, for over 30 years before retiring and beginning a new chapter in Aiken, South Carolina, in 2001.

Martha was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She maintained friendships with neighbors and others in her community, including people she came to know through church and during her years in Plymouth and Aiken. She and John were also longtime members of First Presbyterian Church, where they attended services and participated in church activities.

Surviving are her two sons, John Koehler (Gwenn) of Somerset, WI and James Koehler (Tamara) of Holt, MI; three grandchildren, Eric Koehler (Ally), Evan Koehler, and Brittany Lewandowski (Scott); great-grandchildren, Max and Cam Koehler, and Audrey Lewandowski; brother, Peyton “Pete” Dudley of Tampa, FL.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday morning, October 28th at 11 o’clock in First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. Christopher Erde officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
