Marie Carver

MARIE LAVENIA CARVER, 86, widow of Levon Carver, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025 in Wellstar MCG Hospital in Augusta.

A lifelong resident of Aiken County, Marie was a daughter of the late Fred and Mattie Whittle Bodie. She and her husband owned and operated Wrights Mill Grocery for 20 years. She attended Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a member of Redds Branch Baptist Church. Marie enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her daughter, Diana Richardson, Aiken; her son, Tracy Carver (Erica), Windsor, SC; 7 grandchildren, Mitchell Kirkbride, Chris Kirkbride (Jenny), Ashley Hall (Robert), Shelby Kirby (Robert), Brandy Smalley (Matt), Clinton Ingram and Draith Ingram; 8 great-grandchildren, Lacey, Landen, Jackson, Kyden, Aria, Silas, Preston, Lilly and 1 expected in Octorer. Also surviving is a special niece, Brenda Lybrand.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by a son, Marion Carver and brothers, Carl, Haywood, Fred, Jr., Leland and sister, Helen.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 18th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Friday afternoon, September 19th at 1 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. Marion Britton officiating. Interment will be in Redds Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
