Marian Williamson Bell

AIKEN, SC – Mrs. Marian Williamson Bell, 96, much-loved wife of the late James F. Bell, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Trinity on Laurens.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Shellhouse Funeral Home, 924 Hayne Ave, Aiken SC 29803. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10 am in historic Bethany Cemetery with the Rev. John Carroll officiating. Mrs. Bell was the daughter of the late James Luke Williamson and Katie Sanders Williamson. A lifelong resident of Aiken, she was born, raised and married on the corner of Park Avenue and Chesterfield St. South in a large home affectionally called the Gingerbread House. In different seasons of her life, she was employed by the Aiken County Courthouse and the Farmers and Merchants Bank. Most of her years were devoted to homemaking, raising two children and one grandchild. She was a member of the Four Seasons Garden Club where she enjoyed working in the beautiful parks of her hometown. She also created award-winning ceramics during her time taking classes with the Aiken Parks and Recreation Department. She was a long-standing member of Aiken’s First Baptist Church where she worshipped from the age of five until her health prevented it. There was no place she’d rather be than sipping coffee on her flower filled back porch with her husband of 73 years.

Mrs. Bell is survived by her beloved son Ricky Bell (Sharon); three grandchildren, Tamla Pridgen (Bert), Danny Bell (Janet), and Jamie Henry (Scott). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jamie Bell Stewart. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aiken’s First Baptist Church, 120 Chesterfield St. N., Aiken, SC 29801.
