Margaret Virginia McKendrick, 99, of Aiken, S.C. passed away on January 30, 2022.
She was born in Front Royal, Virginia on December 26, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Ellen Salzenburg, deceased. She married her husband, Howard Raymond McKendrick, deceased, on September 3, 1941. They were married for 73 wonderful years before his passing in 2014. During Ray’s 30-year military career they lived all over the world and the US. In 1972, upon Ray’s retirement, they settled at Midland Valley in Aiken. In 1999 Ray and Margaret moved to Cumberland Village, Senior Living Community. Margaret enjoyed reading, knitting, and especially feeding and watching her wild birds. For many years, she enjoyed working at the Aiken SPCA Store. She was known as Grammy by all her grandchildren.
Margaret was predeceased by one sister, Shirley Ann Babbitt. Surviving is her daughter Patricia L. Wright (Michael); two granddaughters, Andrea M. Cornelison and Megan E. Greenwald (Brian), and four grandchildren, Clay and Claire Cornelison and Nathan and Natalie Greenwald.
A private memorial service will be held by the family.
