Mamie Ann Young, Nigretto, Parkhurst passed into Jesus’ arms on Monday, December 26, 2016. Mamie was born to Dean and June Young (both deceased) on May 8, 1955 in Fairbanks, Alaska and joined big brother, Mikel. She graduated from Lakes High School in 1973. She loved being outside – hiking Rampart Ridge at Mt Rainier was one of her favorite hikes, gardening, camping, antiquing, and shopping for shoes. She was employed at Tacoma Lutheran Home for the last 14 years. She was an avid Seahawks fan. Mamie is survived by her children - Emily and Ben; brother - Mikel; boyfriend - Rich Sandstrom; BFF - Teresa Taylor and numerous cousins, friends, co-workers and her cat - Gabby. She is missed beyond words but our memories – her smile, beautiful face, caring heart and sarcasm - will live on forever. A special thanks to her neighbor, Connie Brandal, for all she did. A memorial service will be held at Mt Vernon Village (8600 Onyx Drive, Lakewood, Washington) on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers your remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or Tacoma Lutheran Home.
