MAJ. BOYCE “MAC” EMMANUEL McFARLAND, USAF, Ret., 77, beloved husband of Annie Elisabet Botnen Fields, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, December 5, 2025 in Aiken, SC.

Born in Roswell, New Mexico, Boyce was a son of the late David Manuel and Anna Marie Murray McFarland. After graduating from Roswell High School and a brief stint in college, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1970, where he devoted over two decades of service to his country. In 1972, while stationed in England, he met and married his first wife, Annie. Their journey together led them from England to K.I. Sawyer AFB in Michigan where Boyce earned his business degree from Northern Michigan University. Following their divorce in 1980, Boyce continued to serve with honor and retired as a Major in 1994.

Boyce later married Barbara Tolar. Following his Air Force retirement, Boyce returned to college earning his teaching certificate and became a beloved history teacher at Porterville High School in California. He also led the California Cadet Corps at Porterville where he earned a field promotion to Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring for a second time, Boyce and Barbara traveled across the United States in their fifth wheel before returning to his roots in Lincoln County, NM. Following Barbara’s passing, Boyce rekindled his love for Annie, and they were joyfully remarried in 2021. They spent their remaining years together traveling and spending time with family.

In addition to his loving wife Annie, Boyce is survived by their daughter, Lisa Forster (Rich) of Charlotte, NC; son, Dominique Figiel (Gulay) of Aurora, CO; and two grandchildren, Rayanna Forster and Cyrus Figiel. He is also remembered by his four siblings and many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

A gathering of family and friends will be held in the spring in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, where cherished memories will be shared.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Doctors Without Borders (doctorswithoutborders.org) or World Central Kitchen (wck.org) .
