Madeline Esther Kurrasch

June 19, 1941 — April 6, 2025

Aiken, SC

It is with deep regret and sorrow that I report the unexpected death of my sister, Dr. Madeline Kurrasch, on April 6, 2025, while residing with family in South Carolina.

Madeline was born in Minnesota on June 19, 1941, to Ken and Valborg Kurrasch. She graduated from Marshall High School in Minneapolis. Madeline then attended the University of Minnesota, where she received her degree in arts and education. Madeline continued her education in California at UCLA where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Madeline practiced as a Maxillofacial Prosthodontist in Torrance, CA and in addition to her practice, she was an Assistant Professor of Removable Prosthetics at UCLA. She was also the first woman President of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics. Madeline enjoyed flying her own plane and was a member of the 99’s, an international organization of women pilots. Madeline participated in many air races in her Grumman Tiger before she sold it to get her dream plane, a V Tail Bonanza. After retiring from her practice, she resumed a lifelong interest in painting and became more involved with many organizations such as, Love on 4 Paws. Madeline spent many years caring for her dog (Prince), and they subsequently teamed up after he was trained as a service dog visiting patients in hospitals and nursing homes.

Madeline was predeceased by her parents and brother (Jimmy). Madeline is survived by her sister, Jeanne Paredes (Leonard) and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life held July 17, 2025, at 10:00am at the La Venta Inn located at 796 Via del Monte, Palos Verdes, CA 90274. Lunch reception to immediately follow the memorial service. Please RSVP to Madeline’s niece, Lisa Morales at 619-415-1320 or by email at mek071725@gmail.com.
