AIKEN – Mr. Mackey Scott, Jr., 88, loving husband of Barbara Raffield Scott, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Aiken’s First Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Chris Masters officiating. Interment will be held privately in Historic Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. A lifelong resident of Aiken, Mr. Scott was the son of the late Mackey and Reda Cook Scott, Sr. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy during the Korean War and was a graduate of Clemson University. Mr. Scott was a life-long farmer and was the owner and operator of Mackey Scott and Sons cotton gin. During his career, he won several awards for his outstanding work in the farming industry. He was a board member with Golden Harvest Food Bank, volunteered at ACTS, and was treasurer of Shaws Fork Baptist Church for 16 years and was also a deacon with the church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Scott is survived by his three daughters, Lindy Scott of Clinton SC , Anne Scott (Rick) Brewer of Greenwood, SC , Caroline Scott of Baltimore MD, and three sons; Mackey (Wanda) Scott III, Pat (Cathy) Scott, Cam (Lisa) Scott, all of Aiken and grandchildren; Michelle Scott Swain, Christopher Scott, Scott Brothers, Brandon Brothers, Lauren Scott McCauley, Joshua Scott, Bishop Scott, Kessler Scott, Hunter Scott, Amy Shirk, Keri Watt and a sister, Margaret Scott and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kitty Scott Killingsworth and a brother, Dick Scott. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Thornwell Children’s Home, Mackey and Barbara Scott Endowment Fund, 302 South Broad St. Clinton, SC 29325, Golden Harvest Food Bank, 81 Capital Dr, Aiken, SC 29803, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd, Lilburn GA 30047. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Melvin Thomas, Therese Redd, Jody Woodruff, the staff at Harbor Chase and a special thank you to Dr. Leo Muniz and his wife, Terry.
