Lucy Carolyn Cooper Lathrop

AIKEN, SC – LUCY CAROLYN COOPER LATHROP, 81, beloved wife of Robert Ross Lathrop, passed away Wednesday morning, October 5, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Fitzgerald, GA, Lucy was a daughter of the late William Player and Carolyn Gladys Gibbs Cooper.  She was a member of Talatha Baptist Church.  Lucy loved reading, puzzles and watching westerns.  She was a caretaker and a nurturer and loved visiting and being with family.

Survivors, in addition to Ross, her husband of 49 years, include two daughters, Rhonda Darr (Greg), Cindy DeBord, all of Aiken; step-children, Robbie Lathrop (Murray), Lakeland, FL, Gina Boyd (Wayne), North Augusta, Stephanie Powers (Barry), Aiken; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Ferland, Ponte Vedra, FL and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nathalie Carolyn Jackson and three siblings, Thomas Brian Cooper, Laverne Aiken and Seth Lucius Cooper.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, October 8^th from 2:30 until 3:30 PM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
