Louise J. Parrish

Louise J. Parrish, 89, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at Wellstar MCG Health. Born on October 31, 1936, in Thomson, Georgia, Louise was a cherished figure whose life was marked by dedication to her family, faith, and community.

Louise made New Ellenton her home in 1962, where she became an active and beloved member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church. Her commitment to her church was deeply felt throughout the congregation; she lovingly taught children’s Sunday School classes, volunteered enthusiastically with Vacation Bible School, and contributed her vocal talents as a member of the church choir. Her faith and service touched many lives and left a lasting legacy within her spiritual family.

Her career as an administrative assistant with the Aiken County Public School District demonstrated her dedication and hard work, contributing quietly but significantly to the education community. Throughout her life, Louise embodied kindness, patience, and generosity.

Louise is survived by her loving daughter, Melinda P. Smoldt (Daryl) of North Augusta, and her son, J. Stanley Parrish, Jr. (Lynda) of New Ellenton. She was a proud grandmother to Wesley Parrish (Wendy), Michael Parrish (Kim), Cody Smoldt (Melissa), and Caitlyn Robinson (T.J.); her great-grandchildren Jackson and Bryce Parrish, and Noah Grace Robinson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Gayle Jones of Musella, Georgia.

Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James S. Parrish, Sr., her parents D.S. and Lillie Mae Arrington Jones, and her brothers Donald and Thomas Jones, all of whom she held dear in her heart.

The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff of Hammond Square and 4 South at Wellstar MCG Health for their compassionate care and support during Louise’s final days.

The family will receive friends Monday morning, May 18th beginning at 10 o'clock at Foreman Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 o'clock. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
