Mrs. Lois May (Mentzer) Kipe, age 93, of Aiken, SC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born on February 5, 1933, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Reverend Maurice B. Mentzer and Martha E. (Sollenberger) Mentzer. She married her beloved husband of 64 years, Howard Lee Kipe, on October 4, 1952. Mr. Kipe passed away on October 7, 2016.
Mrs. Kipe was a homemaker who loved gardening, canning, and cooking, alongside her husband, who enjoyed farming. She also enjoyed reading and Bible study and she taught piano.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved Jesus with all her heart.
Early in her marriage, she worked at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and later at Regency Thermographers in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. In addition, she served as a cook at Niagara Christian College in Ontario, Canada, and later at Timber Bay Children’s Home in Saskatchewan, Canada, along with her husband, who served as Head of Maintenance at both locations.
She was a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, where her husband was a lifelong member. She served her church as an accompanist on piano, organ, and keyboard for 50 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Erika (George) Klipa of Aiken, SC; five grandchildren, Ty (Haley) Reed, Ian (Katherine) Reed, Travis (Taylor Payne) Klipa, Kaelyn (Artur Cabral) Klipa, and Sophie Klipa; and one great-grandchild, Palmer Reed, daughter of Ty and Haley Reed.
She is also survived by her sister, Sara Diller; two sisters-in-law, Jane (Ben) Mentzer and Kay (Allen) Mentzer; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Allen Mentzer and Maurice Benjamin Mentzer Jr.; and her sisters, Susan Witmer, Mary Wenger, Fannie Diller, Anna Keller, Alma Hock, Kathryn Frey, and Marian Frey.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for her immediate family on Sunday, May 17th, at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home in Aiken, SC.
Interment will be private at Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold, MD, in September.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 5th, at 1:00PM in the chapel at Five Forks BIC church. Pastor Ray Kipe will officiate. The church address is 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, PA, 17268.
