AIKEN, SC

AIKEN, SC - Linda Warren Smith Parker (age 88) died on June 19, 2025 after a long period of declining health. Linda was born in Asheville, NC, the daughter of Josephine and Willis Smith and was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School (1954). In 1958, she graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. All her adult life, she was grateful for this opportunity made possible by her parents.

In her 40s, Linda earned a paralegal certification and worked for several years for a large law firm in downtown Pittsburgh. Along the way, she taught school and worked in libraries.

The highlight of her life was as “Mom” to their four sons, Stuart, Brian, Gregory and Timothy. Also, she especially treasured her daughters-in-law, Elizabeth and Teena and her much-loved grandchildren, Aidan, Madi, Ian and Alice. Her precious sisters, Janice Williams and Ann Redwine, have always been loving and supportive. Her many nieces and nephews were also dear to her.

Linda had survived her loving and dear sweet husband, Gerald (Jerry), who passed in February 2025. They were married in 1958 and had many joyous and happy travels along the way. Linda made many good friends in Aiken, SC and along the way of their many moves. She kept in touch with her dear friends from her Meredith days. In April 2023, she and Jerry moved into Trinity on Laurens in Aiken and found many lovely friends there also.

Linda was part of many Methodist Church choirs along the way. Also, while living in Pittsburgh, she was a member of the South Hills Chorale, which performed in the area. In her later years, Linda enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader.
