Martinez, GA – Kemberly Younts went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday morning, August 17, 2026.
Born in Greenwood, SC on April 20, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Norman Wade Younts and Bette Adams Younts. Kem grew up in Aiken, SC and was a 1972 graduate of Aiken High School. She received her Associate of Arts from the University of South Carolina in December of 1974, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Augusta State University in June 1989, Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Augusta State in June 1991, and her Master of Education in Counseling from Augusta State in June of 1993. Kem was always very proud of her hard work academically and was an advocate for education to those whom she counseled.
Kem is survived by her younger brothers Brandon (Mina) Younts and Lindsey Younts, her nephews Jonathan (Caki), Christopher (Tabatha), Steven (Wendy), Todd (Carmen), and Lee (Morgan) Younts, and her nieces Rita (Jimmy) Yoder and Sarah (Zach) Coker, and her loving friends Don (Kathy) Raley and her goddaughter Vayle (Austin) Raley Leonard.
The family would like to make a special acknowledgement to her long time friend and assistant, Michelle Ligon. Thank you for caring for her in a way only you were capable of doing in her time of greatest need.
Kem was a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and South Carolina for 33 years and a National Board Certified Counselor for 32. She was a family therapist and specialized in child and adolescent therapies for many years. In addition to her private counseling practice, Kem worked various positions for Charter Behavioral Health in Augusta, Aurora Pavilion at Aiken Regional Medical Center, and was a part-time professor of Psychology at Augusta State University. She was a past president of Psi Chi (National Honor Society of Psychology) and was named to Who’s Who in American Women in 1996-97. She served as guardian ad litem for many children through the years in the family courts of the CSRA. She served as a board member for Father’s Heart at-risk youth mentoring ministry for 25 years. Kemberly brought comfort, peace, and the ability to move forward to many people, children and adults alike, who had experienced trauma in their lives. Her empathy for her patients and her friends will be her lasting legacy.
Kem was a woman of many talents. She loved good music and dabbled with the guitar herself. She enjoyed jewelry making and amateur photography. She was a Level 3 USA Olympic Certified Archery Instructor and was a Georgia State Champion archer. She loved Native American culture, traveling several times to Navajo country, and enjoyed collecting native American art and jewelry pieces. Known playfully to her friends and family as “Princess” Kem, both she and her loyal Shih Tzu, Caroline, wore the crown with pride and grace. She will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by her friends and family.
