AIKEN, SC - Mary Kay Hovey died October 11th, 2017 at Harbor Chase Assisted Living Home in Aiken, SC, where she was cared for by the loving staff of the Memory Care Unit and nurses of Alliance Hospice. She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, to the late William P. and Mary P. Conklin on April 3, 1934. She is survived by her husband, Gale K. Hovey, Aiken, SC, two sons, Bruce E. Hovey, Aiken, SC. and Bryan K. Hovey, Edinburgh, Scotland. A daughter, Wendy A. Hovey, predeceased her. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Lauren McCauley, Columbia, SC; Joshua Scott, Raleigh, NC; Cullen Hovey, Aiken, SC and Anna Hovey, Edinburgh, Scotland and her brother, Philip J. Conklin, Livermore, CA. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Aiken, SC. Kay lived many places throughout the country, but especially enjoyed her years in the San Francisco Bay area raising her family. While in California she was active with AAU swimming and a board member for the Livermore Aqua Cowboys swim team. In addition, she was chairman of the local American Heart Association. Kay was a loving mother and a fantastic cook. All who knew her will remember her beautiful blue eyes and infectious smile. Funeral services will be private.
