Karin Kay Gee

Karin Kay Gee, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away at her home on September 27, 2026. She was 73.

Born on April 10, 1953, in Wonewoc, Wisconsin to Harry L. and Julaine Degner Miller, Karin grew up in Wisconsin and carried those roots with her throughout her life. From there she enjoyed her time traveling and living in the mountains of East Tennessee. For the last 36 years, she made her home in Aiken.

Karin had the hardest job of all, which she jokingly referred to as “domestic engineer”. She made sure there was never a missed activity, practice, or performance. She volunteered many years at Aiken Elementary with the special education department, receiving the Torchbearer Award for her service. In addition, she took her love of knitting and turned it into an act of service to others. With the Warm-Up Ladies of the American Red Cross, and various other knitting groups, she worked on and completed several hundred handmade blankets, hats, and booties for families in need.

Karin shared 50 years of marriage with her beloved husband, James “Jim” Gee, a remarkable milestone that reflected a life of devotion and partnership. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Sonya Edelstein, and Sonya’s husband, Jeremy, of Atlanta, GA, and to her son, Derek Gee, and his wife, Rachel Bentley, of Gettysburg, PA. She was also a proud grandmother to Emma (6) and Ethan (3) Edelstein, fondly referred to as “Grandma Story” because of their love of reading together.

She is also survived by her sister, Karla Russow, and Karla’s husband, Richard; and by her brothers, Curt Miller and his wife, Sheryl, Jeff Miller and his wife, Brenda, and Steve Miller and his wife, Kim. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Karin was preceded in death by her parents.

No formal service is planned. The family will have a private memorial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Blood Cancer United to support research for CLL and other related blood cancers.
