Julia Mitchell, 81, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the immense love of family and friends.

Born on January 13, 1945, in Colorado Springs, CO, to Donald and Eleanor Herr, Julia lived life with style, creativity, and a wonderful appreciation for all things beautiful.

A gifted designer, artist, and bronze sculptor, Julia had an extraordinary eye for beauty and a passion for bringing her ideas to life. Whether remodeling a home, tending her beloved gardens, appreciating art, or planning her next project, she approached life with elegance, enthusiasm, and a flair all her own. She loved traveling, staying in the mountains, dining out, and spending time with her horse, and her beloved dog Jasper.

In 2002, Julia and her late husband, Jimmy, the love of her life, moved to Aiken to build their dream home and embrace the area's equestrian lifestyle. The life they created together reflected their shared love of beauty, mountains, and time together.

Julia had a special gift for making life more beautiful and those around her feel loved. Her warmth, generosity, joyful spirit, and unmistakable style touched the lives of many, and she leaves behind a circle of devoted friends who will cherish her always.

Julia is survived by her son, Jim Soboleski; her grandchildren Emily Soboleski, Erin Soboleski, Carter Soboleski, her dearest friends, Julie Robins and Amy Kirkland; her beloved puppy, Lilly; and her cherished mare, Lakota.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 27, from 5–7 p.m. at Dragonfly Farm, 590 Implement Road, Aiken, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julia's memory to Leg Up Experience, Aiken, SC (www.LegUpExperience.org), 803-220-1768, a cause close to her heart.
