Judy Little Mead

AIKEN, SC – JUDY LITTLE MEAD, 77, beloved wife of Stephen M. Mead, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022 in Hitchcock Place.

A native of Charlotte, NC, Judy was a daughter of the late John Leroy and Madgelene Lanier Little.  She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School and received her RN degree from Presbyterian School of Nursing.  She worked as a registered nurse for 46 years.  First at Presbyterian Hospital and also as a private duty nurse for 31 years in Charlotte, prior to moving to Aiken in 1991.  Judy worked in outpatient surgery for 15 years at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, retiring in 2006.  She was a devout Christian and was a member of Mercy Church where she attended the Ambassador Sunday School Class.  She was an excellent cook.  She loved nature, the outdoors and gardening.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Steve; three sons, Michael Mead, Mooresville, NC, David Mead, Monroe, NC, Jonathan Mead (Louvene), Sharon, SC; four grandchildren, Christian Mead, Emma Mead, John Gordon Mead, J. J. Mead; a brother, Richard Little (Darlene), Sharon, SC; sister-in-law, Kathy Little, Rock Hill, SC.  In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by a sister and brother, Joan Ballard, Jack Little.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, May 5^th from 1 until 2 o’clock at Mercy Church.  The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock with The Rev. Kenny Murphy officiating.  Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
