Judith Bouey Sheppers

October 23, 1940 — December 17, 2021

AIKEN, SC - Judith (Judy) Bouey Sheppers, our wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 81 of Aiken, South Carolina passed away December 17, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Thelma Bouey, her brothers Sonny and Kenny Bouey and her husband Ted Sheppers. She is survived by her two brothers Richard Bouey (Ohio) and Jim Bouey (Madisonville, LA). She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah (Jim) Durkis (Winter Garden, FL), Sheryl (Rick) Eddie (Gainesville, FL) and Beth Edwards (Aiken, SC); seven grandchildren, Danielle (Aaron) Sellars (Hermitage, TN), Emily Wolf (Gainesville, FL), Sarah Wolf (Gainesville, FL), Jason Durkis (Atlanta, GA), Kaja Durkis (Orlando, FL), Kristin Edwards (Aiken, SC) and Alecia Edwards (Aiken, SC); and five great-grandchildren, Noah Wolf-Smith, Lucas Wolf, Allison and James Sellars, and Morgan Butler.

Judy was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana and spent her early years in Madisonville, Louisiana. After graduating Covington High, she moved to New Orleans where she met the love of her life, Ted (forty-two years married). Judy’s life took a more adventurous turn. She lived in Alabama, Virginia, Ohio, and mostly Florida both on the east and west coast, as well as North Central Florida and South Florida; finally settling down in South Carolina for the past 20 years. She became a “snowbird” to Florida the last few years.

Mom was a history buff. During her travels she made a point of visiting historical sites and learning more of the area. Her scrapbooks and Dad’s photography filled the house with not only pictures of the family but the area and sites they explored. She and Dad started their married life with the space industry and were so proud to have been at the Apollo 11 launch. Besides being a fantastic mother to us girls, Mom worked in insurance, office management, and real estate. During her retirement Mom devoted time to the historical records of Aiken Regional Medical Center and its volunteers. There will be a private service for family at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Aiken Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxilliary.
