Josephine "Jo" Owen Caldwell

Augusta – Mrs. Josephine “Jo” Owen Caldwell, 98, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Jo was born in Atlanta, GA, daughter of the late Clifford and Lucile Hendricks Owen. She was a longtime resident of Aiken, and member of First Presbyterian Church. As a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Jo loved her family with all her heart. She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Dye and Judy Hooks; grandchildren, Eurie Gene Dye, Jr., Julie Dye Prochnow, John E. Wertz, Jr., Robert Allan Wertz, Mary Jo Wertz West, and Carol Kropp Glass; 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Cmd. Robert D. Caldwell, Jr., and daughter, Nancy Wertz. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 24, 2021, in Aiken Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Holly Shoaf-O’Kula officiating.
