AIKEN, SC - Joseph John Wisniewski, a beloved teacher, coach and devoted family man passed away peacefully in his home on June 11th, 2023 at the age of 75.

Born on April 16th, 1948 to Therese Zmijewski Wisniewski and Joseph Wisniewski in Salem, MA, Joseph found his calling in teaching and became an outstanding educator who left a lasting impression on his students, colleagues and community.

Joseph earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University and started his career at Lyman Hall High School where he taught for 10 years. While teaching Joseph went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education plus an additional 30 credit hours.  He then spent a brief period in computer programming before ultimately returning to his passion to teach. For the following 26 years, he inspired countless students as a dedicated teacher at North Branford Middle and North Branford High School until retiring in 2006.

Beyond the classroom, Joseph was an accomplished golf coach who dedicated many years to mentoring young athletes on the fundamentals of the sport. Joseph was also a longtime cross-country coach.

In addition to teaching and coaching, Joseph loved spending time with his family, especially his wife Sherry. They shared nearly 50 years of love and support for one another which was evident to all who knew them.

Joseph had a pure talent for golf that could only be rivaled by his personality. Those who knew him well would surely recall how much joy he took from being outdoors with those he cared about most.

Joseph John Wisniewski touched countless lives throughout his life; he was cherished not only by his students but by everyone who met him. He will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege to know him.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Sharleene R. "Sherry" Wisniewski, who was his partner in life and in love. He is predeceased by his parents, Therese Zmijewski Wisniewski and Joseph Wisniewski.

Although he has left this world, his spirit of dedication, kindness and compassion will resonate throughout the community forevermore.
