Joseph James Spanato, Jr.

Joseph James Spanato, Jr., 65, affectionately known as Joe, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2026, in Jackson, South Carolina. Born on December 21, 1960, in Rosedale, New York, Joe served his community with commitment as a former Dispatcher with the Town of Babylon, New York Public Safety.

Joe loved the outdoors.  He found joy and solace in hunting and exploring nature, as well as riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his daughters, Victoria Pettit (Andrew) of Greenville, South Carolina, and Alyssa Douso of Barnwell, South Carolina. Joe took immense pride in his grandchildren, Emily Pettit and Liam Douso. His family circle also includes his sister, Jolene Spanato, and his brother, Frank Spanato.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph James and Helene Spanato. 

A memorial gathering to honor Joe’s life will be held Wednesday morning, June 24, 2026, from 11 o'clock until noon at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home.  This will be a time for family and friends to come together in remembrance and celebration of Joe’s enduring spirit.
