Joseph Edward Harden

JOSEPH EDWARD HARDEN, 75, husband of the late Shirley Hough Harden, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 in Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Born in Ocilla, GA, Joe was a son of the late Bill and Olivious Hawes Harden. He lived most of his life in Aiken County. He was a former warehouse manager for Anheuser-Busch. He was a member of Shaws Fork Baptist Church.

Joe was a big fan of the Atlanta Falcons and the USC Gamecocks. He was a passionate NASCAR fan, animal lover, and an avid golfer. He also enjoyed cooking, especially his homemade mashed potatoes.

He is survived by his two sons, Joseph Christopher Harden (Kristy) and Timothy Hough Harden. He absolutely adored his four grandchildren: Alissa Harden, Joshua Harden, Carter Harden, and Timothy Harden as well as his recently newborn great-granddaughter, Payton Weathersbee. Joe is also survived by three brothers: Herbie Harden (Stephanie) from Conway, SC, John Harden (Cathy) from Lake Greenwood, SC, and Bill Harden (Mary) from Batesburg-Leesville, SC.

The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon, beginning at 1 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock with The Rev. Bill Howard III officiating. Interment will be in Scott Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Caleb Miller, Lawrence Jeffers, Whit Corley, Tommy Platt, Richard Fowler and Tim Kerrigan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
