Aiken, SC & Staten Island, NY

Joseph Charles Clemente, of Aiken, SC, and Staten Island, NY, passed away Thursday May 22, 2025, at the age of 67.

A dedicated, loving husband, Joe leaves behind his beloved wife of 23 years, Valerie Brannick Clemente. They shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, wonderful friends and family. Survived by three sons: Joseph C. Clemente Jr. (wife Kimia, children Ayla and Isabella), Michael Clemente (wife Alison, children Michael Jr. and Angelina), and Jesse Clemente (fiancé Gretty Garcia) His loving mother, Rita Clemente, brother, Frank Clemente (wife Lenore, and children) and sister, Irma Clemente. Preceded in death by his father, Joseph F. Clemente.

Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, to Joseph and Rita Clemente, Joe graduated from Xaverian High School and St. John's University, with honors. At a young age, he dedicated himself to building and carrying forward a proud family business legacy, Clem Snacks Inc., alongside his family - one rooted in integrity, loyalty, and hard work. An incredible businessman, Joe was admired and respected by all who knew him.

One of Joe's greatest joys in life was being a father, and more recently a 'Grandpa' to his four beloved grandchildren. He was deeply proud of his sons-not only for their many accomplishments, but also for the family life they built. Joe approached being a grandfather with the same boundless energy, warmth, and playfulness that defined his spirit. Whether he was down on the floor building magnatiles, cheering from the sidelines, or stopping by in the (very) early morning to drop off their favorite food. Joe's presence was a constant source of comfort and happiness for his kids and grandchildren.

Joe was a proud member of the Palmetto Golf Club, in Aiken, and various Staten Island men's clubs, where he was known as a devoted golfer with a passion for the game. Golf was more than just a sport to Joe—it was a lifelong pursuit that brought him joy and deep friendships. He cherished early mornings on the course and shared his passion for the game with his sons.

A lifelong learner, Joe had a deep appreciation for reading, art, and history. Joe was well known for his "style" (and signature cowboy boots and turtlenecks) and love for music (he enjoyed listening to Kings of Leon, The Clash, and U2).

He relished engaging conversations and took a genuine interest in learning about the people around him - he had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room. He was famous for affectionately calling people "baby", a small gesture that reflected his warmth.

His caring and selfless nature, combined with a strong moral compass and hardworking spirit, made him an exceptional husband, father, role model, and gentleman.

Joe Clemente leaves behind a legacy of integrity, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Remembrance celebrations will be held in Joe's honor. Details to follow.
