John H. McCall, 78, of Aiken, South Carolina, died April 4, 2026.
John was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Aiken High School, received his bachelor’s degree from Wofford College, and earned a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. During the Vietnam War, John served in the United States Army as an EOD specialist. He was then employed as a warden with the South Carolina Department of Corrections for many years prior to his retirement.
John is survived by his wife Camille McCall, his sons Marsh McCall and Perry McCall, his nieces Stephanie Halling and Catherine Baker, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruby McCall, his brother Bill McCall, and his niece Courtney McCall.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matthew Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Audubon Silver Bluff Sanctuary (audubon.org/silver-bluff), the ACLU of South Carolina (aclusc.org), South Carolina Public Radio (southcarolinapublicradio.org), or Trinity United Methodist Church (trinityumcaiken.org).
